East CK Trading, Inc. is recalling 8-ounce packages of “Licorice Plum” due to undeclared sulfites and an unallowed color additive, Amaranth (E123).

The product was distributed nationwide in retail stores and through mail orders.

No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date.

Consumers sensitive to sulfites risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions.

Risk:

Consumers who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the “Licorice Plum” revealed they contained 29.1 milligrams per serving.
