Berlin Seeds is recalling 950 lbs of Alfalfa Sprouting Seed due to potential contamination with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) and Salmonella.

The recalled product was sold nationwide through the company website and at their retail store in Millersburg, Ohio, from February 13, 2026, to August 23, 2026.

One illness has been reported in connection with this seed; no deaths have been reported.

Risk:

Consumption of product contaminated with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, including hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), especially in young children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. Salmonella infection can cause severe illness, particularly in neonates, infants, adults over 65, and immunocompromised individuals, potentially leading to bloodstream infections and other severe conditions.
