Kroger has voluntarily recalled Basil Pesto Bowtie Salad and Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The recalled salads were sold in Kroger Family of Stores across multiple states including Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington and West Virginia.
No illnesses or injuries have been reported to date related to this recall.
Risk:
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
