Haifa Smoked Fish is recalling Cold Smoked Salmon and Cold Smoked Seabass due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
The products were distributed nationwide through direct delivery to retail stores and distributors.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
The contamination was discovered through sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors.
Risk:
Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
