Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. is recalling approximately 1.59 million dozen white and brown cage-free shell eggs due to potential Salmonella Enteritidis contamination.

The eggs were produced in Texas between June 6, 2026, and July 3, 2026, with 'sell by' or 'best by' dates ranging from July 20, 2026, to August 17, 2026.

Distribution included foodservice and retail customers in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Mississippi, specifically at Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana, and Brookshire Grocery stores across multiple states.

No specific illnesses have been linked to these products.

Risk:

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
