Company announcement

Twin Sisters Creamery is recalling Whatcom Blue, Farmhouse, Peppercorn, and Mustard Seed cheese products due to potential contamination with Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) and Escherichia coli O103.

The affected cheese products were shipped to distributors in Oregon and Washington between July 27, 2025, and October 22, 2025.

There have been three reports of STEC infections caused by E. coli O103 in Oregon and Washington; one case in Oregon consumed the recalled Farmhouse cheese prior to becoming ill.

Risk:

Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in young children, frail or elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. E. coli O103 can cause severe abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea, and vomiting, potentially leading to Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (HUS), a life-threatening condition causing kidney failure.
