FSIS Issues Public Health Alert for Beef Kofta Products Served at The Kebab Shop Restaurant Locations Due to Possible E. Coli O157:H7 Contamination

FSIS is issuing a public health alert concerning beef kofta products served at The Kebab Shop restaurants due to potential contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli O157:H7.
The affected products were supplied to The Kebab Shop restaurant locations in California, Texas, and Florida.
The Kebab Shop stopped selling beef kofta at all of its restaurant locations on May 18, 2026.
Risk:
E. coli O157:H7 can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. In some cases, it can lead to hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a type of kidney failure, particularly in children under 5 and older adults.
Impacted states: CA, TX, FL
