Prime Food Processing LLC is voluntarily recalling 69 cases of “Dried Herring Fish” because the product was not adequately eviscerated, violating New York State Agriculture and Markets regulations.
The recalled products were distributed to Asian grocery stores in Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Utah.
The issue was identified during routine testing by the New York Department of Agriculture and Markets, stemming from an imported product manufactured in Vietnam.
No illnesses or adverse reactions associated with the affected product have been reported as of June 2, 2026.
Risk:
Uneviscerated fish are prohibited due to the higher likelihood of containing Clostridium botulinum spores, which can produce botulinum toxin. Botulism poisoning is a severe and potentially fatal paralytic illness. Symptoms include dizziness, blurred or double vision, trouble with speaking or swallowing, difficulty breathing, muscle weakness, abdominal distension, and constipation. Immediate medical attention is required if these symptoms occur.
Impacted states: AZ, CA, FL, HI, IL, KS, LA, MD, MO, NC, NH, NV, NY, OK, PA, TX, UT
