Tongyang Cycling has recalled Basecamp bicycle helmets, model HT-10, sold online via Amazon.com from July 2024 through July 2026.
The helmets violate mandatory safety standards, posing a risk of serious injury or death from head trauma.
Additionally, button cell batteries in the helmets lack required warning labels, which can cause severe internal burns or death if ingested.
No incidents or injuries have been reported.
Risk:
The recalled Basecamp bicycle helmets do not comply with the mandatory safety standard for bicycle helmets, specifically failing to meet impact attenuation, positional stability, and certification requirements. This non-compliance means the helmets may not adequately protect the user in the event of a crash, leading to a serious risk of head injury or death. Furthermore, the helmets contain button cell batteries that do not bear the warning labels required by Reese’s Law. Ingesting these button cell batteries can result in serious internal chemical burns and can be fatal.
