Kao USA Inc. is voluntarily recalling select lots of its Oribe Serene Scalp Densifying Shampoo (8.5 oz and 33.8 oz).
The recall applies to products distributed in the United States and Canada.
The reason for the recall is the detection of Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria.
No deaths or injuries have been reported in connection with this issue.
The announcement was made on July 1, 2026.
Risk:
Though Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria pose little medical risk to healthy people, those with certain health issues such as weakened immune systems may be more susceptible to infection by the bacteria.
